Hey, Zelda fans.

In the mass confusion and complete elation the Zelda community experienced yesterday, I did the best I could to keep it together and update the site with as much as I could muster. With the day over and everything (almost) back to normal, here's a consolidated block of everything we learned yesterday.

Spoiler alert: There are story elements below that you may or may not want to hear.

-The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is the newest Zelda title set for the Nintendo Wii, with a 2011 release date. The game features a very unique graphical style, mixing styles from The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and seemingly even others such as A Link to the Past and Spirit Tracks. In any case, the title definitely seems to bring its own fresh, almost fairytale style to the table.

The game explains the legend of the Master Sword, or at this point known as the Skyward Sword. This time around, our hero was raised high above Hyrule, in the clouds. There lies a place called Skyloft, which Link considers his home. One way or another, he finds out about the land below, and the evil which consumes it. Whether it is his decision alone or it is forced onto him is unknown, but regardless, he dives down to the earth below to cleanse the land with a blade known as the Skyward Sword. This blade is no regular hunk of metal, however, as it has the ability to transform into a live being. To clear up any confusion with any rumors that have gone around since the beginning of this year: From here on, only what we have heard from Nintendo themselves is truth. Past rumors have been riddled with false information. That is to say, it is more than likely that our Skyward Sword is not named Aderu, Adelle or Zordiana.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword displays nearly perfect 1:1 sword and shield combat with the required WiiMotion Plus appendage. New gameplay techniques such as rolling bombs like bowling balls, and drinking potions in real time without the fight pausing are now possible (The latter is not due to WM+).

-Another interesting surprise was the revelation of a "full-fledged" remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, originally for the Nintendo 64, for the brand new Nintendo 3DS console. As of right now, we are unaware of when the 3DS will be released (Though it seems they are shooting for a 2010 Japanese release), or when our suped-up OoT 3DS will be released.

-Will Ocarina of Time 3DS be a launch title for the 3DS? Will it be bunched with the remakes for other confirmed remakes such as Starfox 64 and Animal Crossing? You'll find out if you keep tabs on the news here, at Zelda-Infinite!

And then LINK DIES

You left that part out. You should also probably spoil some of the later bits for all the really nitpicky people. Just sayin'.

Well, now the little scene in the trailer where he jumps off a cliff makes a lot more sense.

We need background story on why he was in the clouds though. Was he the only human up there, raised by Occocos? Or was there an entire civilization of people with him?

...That'll probably be explained in-game, huh?

I just figured that he did that for the hell of it. Like "Hark! A cliff! Watch me jump off it and for a split second of free-fall, enjoy the liberty of flight before plummeting to a most painful death! Wheeeeeee!"
I know that is what I would've done :D
Anyway, the more i think of it, the better i like this story, because it is like all other origination stories in which the god or diety descends upon the earth to help the suffering humans below. Maybe this Link lives with the goddesses????

I'm sure we'll see the Ooccoos and how they became the "first Hylians" or whatever. It's cool that we're finally getting to see the ancient history of the modern Zelda mythos.

I thought that was just a quick cliff hanger cutscene before he flys. Coz we all remember Eiji Aonuma talking about how Skyward Sword was going to involve flight.
And yes El, Super Zelda Galaxy. XDDD

Pardon, but from where is this information taken and why is there no explanation to why he's wearing pants?

^Which information? If it's mine, I don't have the source but if you search around, you might find it.
Goji's? Ask him. But I found the info that Goji posted here.

I think what Goji covered with the spoiler tag is fairly obvious when you pay attention to the sword at the beginning of the trailer...

I don't know...there's never been any other explanations as to why Link wears the clothes he did (excepting games like Ocarina of Time).

I suppose if you're really offended by it you can add the LoZ in front so LoZSS, I donno.

SS just makes sense with the name, I don't think its going be offensive. Especially considering on this board its a safe assumption that we're talking about Zelda.

Just to be an asshole, I should begin referring to this game as "The SS" rather than SS.

But seriously, lots of things can be abbreviated SS. The Schutzstaffel is just one unfortunate and infamous example.

At my school they have the rooms labeled aafter the subject that's intended to be thaught in them, like KS (KemiSal = Chemics Room) or FS (FysikSal = Physics Room), but for some reason when they got to SpråkSal (= Language Room) they settled for just S. A teacher told me that they did so to avoid the SS-abbrevation.

Ah, I see. Can't say that would be the first thing to pop into my head if someone abbreviated something as SS. Unless it was in a military context or something.
