Zelda Infinite

So looking around the internet, I've seen some discussion about the new Zelda for the Wii. One topic I found caught my attention, where in the timeline will the new game be placed?

I don't know where they could squeeze it in, so would it be after the Twilight Princess? Or a time where Link didn't have the Master Sword, like after OoT and before MM?

I believe that we should wait for more information before putting it in a timeline. But there's a lot of empty space in the Zelda timeline. Each story probably lasts a year (except OoT obviously, which is still under a decade), over hundreds if not thousands of years of the kingdom of Hyrule and its surrounding lands. Its the time in between that brings each story into its legend, and during which Hyrule enjoys peace.

But I'm guessing that if this story's about the creation of the Master Sword, then its one of if not the first in the timeline.

Based on the fact that the supporting character appears to be the Master Sword, and Link isn't holding the Master Sword, I speculate it's about the creation of the Master Sword. If this is the case, I suspect it takes place between The Minish Cap and Ocarina of Time.

In theory, it could take place before Minish Cap, but it's far more likely that it takes place after it.

Emphasis was placed on the Picori Blade, while historically emphasis has been placed on the Master Sword, so I don't feel as if the Master Sword even exists during TMC.

I need to play Minish Cap, had no idea it played a decently important part in the supposed timeline.

I wouldn't say it's important, and it doesn't come out and say it's first, but it's generally accepted nowadays that Minish Cap is the first in the timeline, for a variety of reasons that I've said many times on this forum.

I'm replaying it now because of this topic.

I think it's possible that it could be a MS origin story. But I could also see it as the essence of the MS emerging from the sword becasue <input bad thing happening>. For example, the MS has lost its power many times before, but this might be a time when she/he really needs Link's help, before she/he vanishes forever.

Basically, it's too soon to call. With that in mind, it could be placed anywhere.

I don't even think of all the games sharing the same timeline. Also, I tend to think of OoT being first, but then again, a good part of what makes me say that is my stubborn fangirl pride. I love the game too much to accept that anything could be better, or before it chronologically. Also, I think that while a lot of the games are connected, the timeline itself is a bunch of crap, whatever Nintendo tells us otherwise. Regardless of whether or not it exists, the gamemakers themselves have said that the quality of the games they produce, and the lasting impression, is what counts. They barely care about the timeline, and a game is a ways into development (or even already released, I can't remember) before its place on the timeline is even determined.
