Well I'm gonna buy all new Handheld Zelda's in Hong Kong now so I can get the US version.

I thought Australia was NTSC and Europe was the only place with PAL?

Nah, Australia's Wii also uses PAL. Which stopped me from buying Wii games in Hong Kong.

Handhelds don't have the region protect thingie. Which makes it even wierder that handhelds are different regions to consoles...
Why is Australia so wierd when it comes to this stuff? Capped internet, no 18s rating for games... There's no point to it.

I really didn't feel any difference of how challenging the bosses were vs the ones in PH. To me, some of them were frustrating. Well, I take that back. That dude with the claw hand was frustrating.

No region protect on handhelds (apart from DSiware apparently). If he was joking then sorry, I just believed it because Australia has a few wierd things like that.

You can play regular DS games on your Australian DS because they aren't region locked. DSiWare and DSi exclusive cartridges are region locked and they are only able to play games from their region. In your case, you would only be able to play PAL territory DSi games and I would only be able to play NSTC games.

Maybe they're PAL, but I remember hearing that the Australian handhelds are always at least based on the US versions, while the console games tend to be based on the European versions. I don't remember where I heard this, though.

The DS can, yes. But DSi exclusive games are region locked, so if Nintendo were to release the next Zelda on a DSi exclusive cart, you would not be able to buy an American version to play on your Australian DSi.
