Even if Minish Cap is chronologically the first Zelda right now, there has to be a game before it (or maybe this intro serves as the explanation of the time before it, which would stink) featuring the Picori Blade, the origin of the Picori/Minish, the long-haired mid-teen Link that appears in the picture, and the monster which appears to be Ganon or a very threatening and evil Moblin.

That monster is a butablin/moblins. >_> And the hero isn't necessarily Link, it's speculated that it's Gustaf.

Theres an octorok and some keese there too.
Also, have you noticed that the heros shield is the same one as WW/PH Links. Maybe this is the formation of new hyrule...

If that were the case, we would've seen a lot more Zelda games that involved wars. Have a game that involves the scouring.

I kinda like how they leave it open ended like that. They could make a game out of the story if they wanted (although Link wouldn't have a hat and that would be weird), but they don't have to because they left enough clues to explain itself too.

Its the keese that the people should fear. They're the ones that are going to take over the world.
Screw the giant pigs with spears, swords and other weapons, and ignore the stone spitting four legged bugs. The bats will kill them all. They'll fly around and no one that tries to stop them will be able to hit them.

Take a wild guess at what my least favorite monster is.

Also, revival of topic.

Missed this.

I doubt this very much. Especially since the Hero's Shield in WW is supposed to be OoT Link's shield.

It's suppose to be, but It doesn't look anything like it. It's not even blue, and if it was the kokiri's shield it would have had the red insignia. So maybe it's a shield he gets later?

I always assumed it was just slightly redesigned to fit the new artwork style.

Pretty much this. Consider that art styles have never really transferred exactly between games. Remember, according to Faron, TP Link is wearing the exact same clothes as OoT Link - yet they look completely different. The Master Sword looks different between the games, etc.

But the point is that looking like the Hero's Shield doesn't mean TMC is anywhere near WW, since it's supposed to be OoT Link's shield.

It's one thing to change the style of how something looks ( Like the tunic and sword as you mentioned ), but it looked like a totally new shield. It didn't retain the blue in favor of red, the silvery metal was replaced by gold-looking metal, and the red eagle looks more like a dragon/Pegasus thing that's white. All it retained was the Triforce.

The title of the game is Legend of Zelda, right? So once something has become legend, the details become muddled and there are some different interpretations. I like to think of it as different people telling the story of Link's Adventures, so although the premise of the story is the same, the exact details, like the design of Link's shield or clothing can differ.

In terms of the Legend of Zelda, I would say that was the name of the first game because Zelda knew the legend of the Triforce, and split it to keep it from Ganon, so I don't agree with that point.

Personally, I don't think there is anything conclusive in that intro. It could be Gustaf, but I see nothing confirming that it is. It looks like a moblin, but it's possible that's not the case and it is in fact Ganon. As with most things Nintendo and within Zelda, it's open ended and not actually clearly stated. You can interpret it both ways.

I doubt they will make a game of it, but I think there's plenty of room to expand the story so we know what happened.

I've explained this a thousand times, but...

The name of the original game in Japan was A Hyrule Fantasy: The Legend of Zelda. It seemed as though the series was to focus on Hyrule, and that specific game was about Princess Zelda. When they made the sequel, they wanted to continue that story, and called it Zelda II: Adventure of Link. It seems as though, as a result of them being more commonly known as the "Zelda" games and not as the "Hyrule Fantasy" games, Nintendo opted to keep the title as The Legend of Zelda so that it was clear that they were in the same series.
